Pro-Life Resources for Sanctity of Life Sunday

This Sunday (January 20), we celebrate Sanctity of Human Life Sunday. The FPC Library will be displaying books and other resources about abortion, euthanasia, and other similar topics.

Two particular books of interest are Won By Love by “Jane Roe” of Roe v. Wade and Unplanned by a former Planned Parenthood clinic director. In these books, the authors detail their stories and how they came to change their views on abortion. You can take a look at all of our pro-life resources in our online catalog here. When they are not being displayed, these books can be found under the number 363 in our Non-Fiction section.

The FPC Library is located in Fellowship Hall and open before and after the service. If you have any questions, send us an email here.

FPC Canon: Amazing Grace

Last Sunday, we celebrated the sacrament of Holy Communion, and at the end of the service we sang “Amazing Grace,” holding hands.  This has become a tradition at FPC. “Amazing Grace” is one of the songs in the FPC Canon, hymns and praise songs that form a special part of our worship as a  community. Find out more about the amazing history of “Amazing Grace,” and watch the playlist below of some of the many ways this song has been performed by a variety of musicians. The playlist includes performances by flash mobs, by a capella groups, by choir and orchestra, and an incredible performance that switches between a concert hall and outdoors in Washington, DC.

Prayer Resources

This Sunday (January 13), the FPC Library will be displaying our books on prayer! Our church has been focusing a lot on prayer recently and we hope to provide books and other resources about prayer. Also, don’t forget about our Tuesday morning prayer meetings at the church! These take place every  week in the Prayer Room in South Chapel (Room 201 on the church map) from 11 am to noon. The next one will be Tuesday, January 15.

Our prayer books are catalogued in our online catalog and can be seen here. We have books for both adults and children. When they are not being displayed our books on prayer can be found in the Non-Fiction section under the number 248.3. Make sure to stop by on Sunday and take a look!

Winter Small Groups

Small Groups meet in relaxed and informal settings studying Scripture, getting to know each other, and growing in the grace of Jesus Christ. Groups can meet once a month, once a week, or every other week. At a church as large as First Presbyterian, it is helpful to be part of one or more smaller groups to experience a stronger sense of belonging to your church family.

We have several new groups starting up at the end of January. Our registration form will be online soon. Let us know here that you’re interested in joining a Winter Small Group, and we’ll notify you as soon as registration opens.

If you have any questions about small groups, please contact:

Books On Marriage

This Sunday (January 6), the FPC Library will be displaying books and resources on marriage!

We have books by Timothy Keller, Gary Smalley, Les and Leslie Parrott, Jim Smoke, Tim Evans, and many more. Our books on marriage can be found our online catalog here. All of our books are catalogued, but not all of them are tagged according to what subject they cover, so they may not all show up in the search. If you are looking for a specific book on marriage, try searching for that book and ask the librarian about it on Sunday. Stop by in person to see our whole collection!

The FPC Library is located in Fellowship Hall and open before and after the service on Sunday mornings. You can contact us by email here.
