The Last Words by Daniel Perrin

On Good Friday, the Chancel Choir and musicians of First Presbyterian Church (FPC) will present The Last Words, an original choral and dramatic work by FPC’s own Minister of Worship Dr. Daniel Perrin. The Last Words tells the powerful story of Jesus’ final words from the cross through the eyes of the centurion who crucified Christ and who returns each year to the place of crucifixion to pay homage to the man he put to death. Dr. Perrin says he hopes his work will communicate the power and self-possession Jesus demonstrated through his crucifixion. “I would like people to see Jesus as heroic in that setting rather than a weak victim,” he says. “I think some of the insights from the script and lyrics will inform our worship to a deeper degree as the evening progresses.” Be sure to invite your friends and family to this special hour-long experience, which will take place in the cathedral-like sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church (20 Tacoma Ave. S.) at 7:00 pm on April 19. The sacrament Communion will be offered during the service.
