Christmas Eve Candlelight Service at Tacoma’s First Presbyterian Church

Yearning to experience the reality of Christmas? Join us for our Christmas Eve Candlelight Service at First Presbyterian Church of Tacoma. This not-to-be-missed celebration unfolds in a cathedral-like sanctuary with soaring arches and features readings and carols and special music performed by chancel choir, handbell choir, worship band, soloists, instrumentalists, and a pipe organ with more than 3,000 pipes.
The service climaxes with the sanctuary lit by more than 800 candles during the singing of “Silent Night.” The service concludes with the performance of Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus” on the pipe organ for the postlude. This event is a Tacoma-area treasure and starts at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, December 24. Everyone is welcome—that means you!
First Presbyterian Church is located at 20 Tacoma Ave. S. Free parking is available in the church parking lot off of South G Street.
Music for this year’s service will include “Bring a Torch, Jeanette Isabella” and “Arise and Shine, Your Light Has Come” performed by the FPC Chancel Choir; “It Came upon the Midnight Clear” performed by the Lindsey Bell Choir; and “Joy to the World” performed by organ, handbells, and Chancel Choir. In addition, you well get to sing favorite Christmas carols accompanied by handbells, pipe organ, and an instrumental ensemble.
