Watch the 2017 Children’s Christmas Pageant

Christmas Eve Candlelight Service 2017

You won’t want to miss our wonderful Christmas Eve Candlelight Service at First Presbyterian Church of Tacoma. Our cathedral-like sanctuary will be filled with hundreds of candles as well as the sound of music from our Chancel Choir, soloists, Lindsey Bell Choir, chamber orchestra, and a pipe organ with more than 3,000 pipes. As in past years, we will be having a “lessons and carols” service that tells the Christmas story through readings and carols plus a special message by our Senior Pastor Dr. Eric Jacobsen. This year FPC’s children will be presenting some of the readings. The service climaxes as we join millions of Christians around the world on Christmas Eve by singing “Silent Night.” Then during the postlude those who wish can sing Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus.” For many of us, this service is the highlight of the year along with Easter. Join us and invite your friends and family. The service begins at 7:00 pm on Sunday, December 24. You may want to come early because this service is usually packed.

Important Information for Families Participating in VBS 2017

If your kids are signed up for FPC’s Vacation Bible School this year, this article contains important information you need to read! (If your kids aren’t currently signed up for VBS, we are sorry to say that we are already completely full and so we aren’t able to accept walk-ups.)

VBS begins Monday, June 26th and will run each day through June 30th from 9 am-12 pm.

Arrive to check in your little “Inventor” on Monday between 8:30-8:50 am in the Playground area. Sign in your child, put on his/her new VBS t-shirt, and take home your family’s very own Maker Fun Factory CD! Don’t forget to grab your “pick-up” card so that you can easily and safely pick up your child at the end of the day.

For the rest of the week, drop off your Inventor beginning at 8:45 at the awning door to Fellowship Hall (aka: The Fun Factory) where a Crew Leader will show your child to his/her group.

Pick-up Procedure:
  • Line up at the awning door at 12 pm.
  • Show your “pick up” card to the person sitting at the check-out booth.
  • A Crew Leader will retrieve your child from the Factory and bring him/her to you at the school entrance door.
  • Any adult who does not have a pick-up slip will need to show ID and be listed as authorized to pick up your child.

Please bring your “pick up” card with you each day. This ensures the safety of each child and makes things go a lot quicker!

Mission Project: We’ll be raising money for Jumpah Ministries, a school & orphanage in Cambodia. We have a personal connection to this school and will tell our kids all about the mission during our week at VBS. Kids are encouraged to bring in change each day to support this worthy cause and send needy kids to school!

Friday’s Funshop Finale: Please join us at our last Funshop Finale on Friday at 11:30 am, where you will get to be a part of the singing, slideshow and fun that your kids have experienced all week!

VBS Sunday: FPC invites your family to join us on Sunday, July 2nd for the 10:30am service in the FPC sanctuary. The kids will sing some of their favorite songs from VBS and a video highlighting the week will be shown. Come, wear your VBS shirt and share in this fun morning!

We look forward to seeing you and the rest of the crew on Monday!
