Last Sunday (May 19), 570 people filled FPC’s historic sanctuary to hear 37 handbell ringers celebrate the 50th anniversary of our beloved Lindsey Bell Choir along with brass, Chancel Choir, pipe organ and piano. Thanks to FPC member Chip Van Gilder, you can watch the three featured handbell presentations, including the official premiere of a new arrangement of “Come, Christians Join to Sing” by nationally recognized composer and arranger Joel Raney, which received a standing ovation. Handbell Celebration THIS Sunday!

You are invited to a celebration of the 50th anniversary of FPC’s youth handbell program THIS Sunday at 10:30 am during worship. A special anniversary bell choir featuring ringers past and present will lead worship supplemented by brass, pipe organ, piano, and Chancel Choir in a special service you won’t want to miss. The handbell ringers will perform three specially commissioned pieces, “There is a Balm in Gilead,” “What a Friend We Have in Jesus,” and the official premiere of a dramatic new setting of “Come, Christians Join to Sing” written by nationally acclaimed composer and arranger Joel Raney, featuring handbells, brass, pipe organ, piano, and Chancel Choir. You are invited to a joyous celebration of handbells and worship this Sunday, May 19 as First Presbyterian Church (FPC) of Tacoma celebrates the 50th anniversary of its handbell program, founded by Bob Gorham. A special anniversary bell choir featuring ringers past and present will lead worship supplemented by brass, pipe organ, piano, and Chancel Choir in a special service you won’t want to miss. The handbell ringers will perform three specially commissioned pieces, “There is a Balm in Gilead,” “What a Friend We Have in Jesus,” and the official premiere of a dramatic new setting of “Come, Christians Join to Sing” written by nationally acclaimed composer and arranger Joel Raney, featuring handbells, brass, pipe organ, piano, and Chancel Choir. This new piece was commissioned just for this special celebration. Additional new arrangements of hymns will be supplied by FPC’s own Minister of Worship Dr. Daniel Perrin. The handbell choir will be directed by Daniel Heath and director emeritus Bob Gorham. You won’t want to miss this exciting service, starting at 10:30 am! Christmas Eve Service Tonight–Join Us for Carols and Candles

You are invited to join us TONIGHT for our annual Christmas Eve candle-lighting service at First Presbyterian Church of Tacoma. Experience the true meaning of Christmas through Bible readings and carols accompanied by choir, handbells, praise band, soloists, instrumentalists, and a pipe organ with more than 3,000 pipes. Plus experience our cathedral-like sanctuary lit up by hundreds of candles. A Tacoma-area tradition! The service starts at 7:00 pm. But come early…. the Sanctuary fills up fast!



Reformation Sunday 2018: A Mighty Fortress

On Reformation Sunday (Oct. 28), FPC’s Lindsey Bells (under the direction of Daniel Heath) presented Joel Raney’s  magnificent arrangement of Martin Luther’s hymn, “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God,” one of the songs in the FPC Canon. The Lindsey Bells were joined by brass, piano, pipe organ, and FPC’s Chancel Choir (under the direction of Minister of Worship Dr. Daniel Perrin). If you missed this past Sunday (or if you want to experience the song again!), you can now watch the presentation on YouTube thanks to FPC member Chip Van Gilder.
 



Watch FPC’s Lindsey Bell Choir Perform “I Sing the Mighty Power of God”!

Watch and listen as our wonderful Lindsey Bell Choir performs an awe-inspiring version of “I Sing the Mighty Power of God” during our worship service on March 4. The youth bell choir was directed by Daniel Heath and accompanied by Patrice Barnett on the organ and Taylor Gonzales on the piano. Many thanks to Chip Van Gilder for videotaping the performance. You can also watch them perform “Great Is Thy Faithfulness” earlier in the service. If you need a pick-up to your day, you will want to watch and listen! And plan to attend our Easter Sunday celebration in a few weeks, where you will get to hear the Lindsey Bells again along with a symphonic band, our praise team, our chancel choir, and our pipe organ.

Lindsey Bell Choir Performances for April and May!

 
Our Lindsey Bell Choir (9th-12thgrades) has many performances coming up in April and May!
 
On Sunday, April 2,  our Lindsey Bell Choir will be performing in the 10:30 am service.
 
Next, the Lindsey Bell Choir will be performing in our Easter Sunday service (April 16th).
 
Sunday, May 7, the Lindsey Bell Choir will be heading to Community Presbyterian Church of Buckley to play in their church service.
 
Lastly, Sunday, May 14, the Lindsey Bell Choir will be performing in the 10:30 am service for Mother’s Day!
 
We hope to see you at some of these performances! Also, if you know anyone in 5th through 12th grade who is interested in joining either of our two bell choirs, we would love to have them!
