If you signed up for our Bible Memory program (or if you still want to sign up), the program begins THIS Sunday! Come to the Bible Memory table in Fellowship Hall to sign up or start reciting your verses. This program is a great way to teach yourself and your kids some of the life-changing promises from God’s word. Plus, your kids will get prizes as they complete their scripture memory goals! If you need more information, please contact Sonja West.

Update from Mary Peterson

“The real victory in all service is won in secret beforehand by prayer.
Service is gathering up the results.”  S.D. Gordon

           Update

The last three updates have requested prayer for more open doors of ministry,
because the economy is forcing developmentally disabled adults to move
from group homes to private residences.  Thank you for interceding for me in
this area, and please continue.

One of the difficulties in gaining access to private residences is on account of
behavioral issues.  Also, caregivers may be occupied with other matters, or just
not want someone to come to their homes.  But your prayer for more open doors
of ministry is really appreciated, and God is answering!

An agency’s recently formed adult day program invited me to be its instructor for
what it calls “spirituality.”  We meet Tuesday mornings for Bible lessons or counsel.

” Well, I should….”

One young man from this program had a lesson on trusting God.  “I didn’t  know
Jesus was God,” he beamed.  Then he questioned me, “Do you always trust God?”
“Well, I should…..”
He interrupted, “May I pray for you?”

“After all, it’s boring to….”

Last year I asked you to pray for a cognitively disabled fellow who also suffered from
a rare auto-immune disease.  To the best of his ability, he accepted the Lord as his
Savior, and went to be with Him.

His sister, also developmentally disabled, recently started volunteering at a
Christian organization which operates a food pantry and clothing supply for
needy families.  Wanting to encourage her to volunteer, I asked, “After all,
isn’t it boring staying home all day and watching TV?”  “No,”  she replied.
Hm….  Several kids from a special needs school also volunteer there.
One fellow, sorting produce, asked if the forbidden fruit Eve ate was an apple!

Finally, this summer I learned about another agency for cognitively disabled
adults, that is only a year old this October.  Someone from its leadership
expressed interest in my teaching clients.  Please pray for this new development.

Fall brings the Thanksgiving season.  Thank you so much for your many
expressions of love, including your prayer and your financial gifts to BCM, which
make this ministry possible.

“The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”  James 5:16

                      Yours for souls,

                          Mary Peterson

Join Us For Christmas Eve TONIGHT at 7:00 pm!

xmaseve2015.003

We had a fantastic rehearsal last night for our Christmas Eve Candlelight Service. Now all you need to do is  join us TONIGHT @ 7:00 pm for the real thing. You might want to come early to get a good seat. This year’s service will feature scripture readings, the Lindsey Bell Choir, a wind ensemble, the Chancel Choir, guitars, a message by Pastor Eric, and more. Invite your friends and family to this Tacoma area tradition and celebrate the real meaning of the season. The night will start off pre-service with carols being played on the chimes in our church tower outside and a wonderful prelude of Christmas music played by our organist Patrice Barnett on our magnificent pipe organ inside.
