Special Treat in Worship 7/31: Bach’s Concerto in D Minor for Two Violins

Come early to worship by 10:20 am on Sunday, July 31st and hear the first part of J.S. Bach’s Concerto in D Minor for Two Violins played by our very own Barbara Trapp and Patrice Barnett (violins), Kerry Franzke (piano), and Max Marcus (cello-basso continuo). This quartet of musicians from our church will play the “Allegro” movement for our worship service’s Prelude, the “Largo ma non tanto” movement for our Offertory, and the “Vivace” movement for our Postlude. You won’t want to miss this special summer treat! J.S. Bach was one of the greatest composers and musicians who ever lived. A devout follower of Jesus Christ, Bach inscribed many of his musical scores with the initals “SDG,” meaning Soli Deo Gloria, or “To God alone be glory.” Bach even wrote that “the aim and final end of all music should be none other than the glory of God and the refreshment of the soul.” You can read more about the life and Christian beliefs of Bach at Christianity Today.

New Sermon Series on Prayer Begins THIS Sunday

This Sunday Pastor Eric is beginning a 9-week series on prayer. Prayer is something we all know how to do, but we don’t all understand it very well. Many people feel that their prayer life could be improved if they just knew a little more about how prayer works or even some of the different kinds of prayers there are. This series will cover the five main types of prayer (adoration, confession, thanksgiving, petition, and intercession) as well as offering practical advice about how to improve your own prayer life. Come join us!

Offertory Opportunity

Do you have a musical gift you’d like to share with the congregation? Throughout the summer, we are inviting members of FPC to present an offertory during the morning worship services. If you would like to participate in worship in this way please call our Minister of Worship, Daniel Perrin, at 425.442.4523.

Summer is a great time for us to sing new songs of worship and praise! If you have a hymn or worship song that you would love the congregation to sing please email the song title to Daniel Perrin at dperrin@fpctacoma.org
