The Self-Feeding Disciple

During the summer of 2018, FPC Tacoma is focusing on the theme “The Self-Feeding Disciple,” exploring how we can study the Bible for ourselves in a way that it transforms our life. Below are some the sermons this summer that focus on this theme.

Parenting Materials

This Sunday (July 29), the FPC Library will be displaying materials on parenting! If you’re looking for tips for difficult situations in your family or just like to read about different parenting strategies, come by this Sunday and see our selection.

Our FPC Library Summer Reading program continues until September 2! This can be a great way for parents to encourage their children to read over the summer. You can read more about the program here. Stop by on Sunday to see the giant inflatable turtle that is being raffled off as a prize!

Bring a Card for Ruth Peterson’s 100th Birthday

Ruth Peterson is turning 100 on Jul. 28, and we will be celebrating THIS Sunday (July 22). During the worship service, we will be singing two of Ruth’s favorite hymns as well as hearing a testimony from Ruth herself. Then after the service in Fellowship Hall, we will be having cake and wishing her a happy birthday. Bring a card and/or a note to help celebrate (please, no gifts).


Stories of Christian Lives

This Sunday (July 22), the FPC Library will be displaying assorted books from our vast collection of biographies. We have many exciting and inspirational stories about both well-known and less well-known Christian figures.

All of our biographies have been catalogued and can be searched for in our online catalog here. We have biographies for adults, youth, and children. Stop by and take a look on Sunday!

Marriage Resources

This Sunday (July 15), the FPC Library will be displaying books and resources on marriage!
 
We have books by Timothy Keller, Gary Smalley, Les and Leslie Parrott, Jim Smoke, Tim Evans, and many more. Some of our newest books on marriage can be browsed in our online catalog here. However, there will be a much bigger selection out on the tables on Sunday, so make sure to stop by and take a look!

Ruth Peterson Birthday Celebration!

FPC’s Ruth Peterson will be turning 100 on July 28! On the Sunday before her birthday (July 22), we will be having a birthday celebration after church in Fellowship Hall. No presents, please, but cards and notes of encouragement are definitely welcome! Please stay after church to congratulate Ruth on her milestone.


FPC Library Summer Reading Program

Everyone ages 4 to the summer after eighth grade can join the FPC Library Summer Reading Program and be entered in a raffle to win a giant inflatable turtle! The Summer Reading Program starts on Sunday, July 1 (this Sunday!) and ends on Sunday, September 2.
 
Youth can participate by reading books checked out from the FPC Library. Every time they read one book from the FPC Library they get to pick a small prize. When they read three books they get a raffle ticket for the prize drawing for the giant inflatable turtle. Come to the FPC Library this Sunday (July 1) to learn more about and start the FPC Library Summer Reading Program!

FPC Library Summer Reading Program

See the Giant Inflatable Turtle!

The FPC Library Summer Reading Program runs from July 1 to September 2. Everyone ages four to eighth grade can earn prizes and enter a raffle for a giant inflatable turtle! Stop by the library any Sunday during this period and get more information and see the turtle.



Books on Immigration

Since immigration has been in the news a lot recently, this week FPC Library will be highlighting our books on immigration. We have two books with thoughtful Christian perspectives on the Bible and immigration. You can take a look at them in our online catalog here.
 
This Sunday (June 24) will be a big day at the library because we will be displaying both these books on immigration and books about how to have a personal Bible study, which you can read more about here. We also will have copies of the detailed FPC 2018-19 budget! Make sure to stop by and pick up a book or budget copy or both!

Books on Studying the Bible

This Sunday (June 24), Pastor Eric will be starting a new sermon series tying into our coming focus on personal study of the Bible (the Self-Feeding Disciple Initiative). The FPC Library will be displaying books about how to have a personal Bible study and the importance of such a Bible study.
 
These books are catalogued in our online catalog and can be browsed here. Two books specifically recommended by Pastor Eric are Living by the Book by Howard G. Hendricks and What the Bible Is All About by Henrietta C. Mears. In the Fall, we will be getting more books on this subject. Make sure to stop by on Sunday and take a look at our selection!
